joeyfivecents is a modern jewelry and accessories line that creates conversation. Every piece flaunts a modern sensibility, but is decidedly old school.

Formerly a film and video editor in New York and Los Angeles, I started making jewelry in 2008 as a way to continue my visual storytelling. A longtime art and book lover, I began to develop ways to repurpose and wear interesting graphics and papers from damaged books and antique ephemera that I had collected.

All my work is one-of-a-kind or in extremely limited edition as it incorporates original ‘found’ vintage or contemporary paper images. Every piece has a repurposed paper component. It’s important that nothing is resized or reproduced, but reused as found. I combine these images with handmade glass, resin, sterling silver, mixed metals and gemstone beads to create something unique.
